Expanded Learning Opportunities
January 17, 2019 The Southwest Teachers Union Reform Network (SW TURN) has been actively examining, experimenting, and implementing Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) as a way to achieve results for students. Of the SW TURN states (Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico), Colorado has been especially involved in exploring the various ways in which schools can use ELO. READ MORE

August 16, 2018 Austin, Texas hosted SW TURN April 6-7, 2018, offering an engaging, inspiring visit to Lanier High School, a community school in Austin. It was impressive to see high school students focused on well-crafted CTE programs, working with real steel and live animals. READ MORE
Union-led Education Policies and Programs
January 22, 2018 Southwest TURN’s fall meeting held in Denver, Colorado, was designed to intertwine diverse examples of local union practices with the current issues and initiatives.
